MOT testing in the heart of Tooting Broadway
At Springbok Garage we have a dedicated and well-equipped MOT bay staffed by highly qualified and experienced mechanics, not just MOT technicians.
We usually try to keep a few slots free every day for walk-ins, which means if you need an MOT test carried out in a hurry, we will do our very best to fit you in.
The MOT test
The MOT test checks that your vehicle complies with minimum standards required for lawful use on the road: it doesn’t mean that you’re vehicle is safe to drive for the next 12 months – all vehicles require regular servicing and maintenance, irrespective of holding an MOT certificate.
The MOT certificate
The new MOT certificate is a computer-printed document. It is your receipt for the MOT test and shows the information that’s held on the MOT database.
The MOT certificate (known as a VT20) has a peel-off windscreen sticker to remind you of the MOT renewal date.
The new certificate also shows if any additional work has been recommended. Details of any such work are included on an Advisory Notice (VT32) which will be given to you at the time of the test.
Proof of MOT status is now held on a secure database, so we recommend that you check before you buy a second-hand car by calling 0870 330 0444 or going online at www.motinfo.gov.uk
To check a vehicle’s MOT status you will need the registration number and either the document reference number from the V5C registration certificate or the test number from the new-style MOT test certificate.
What to do if you disagree with an MOT test result
If you disagree with an MOT test result, discuss the issue with us first – do not attempt to carry out repairs yourself.

Did you know that if you drive a vehicle that does not have a valid MOT certificate you risk a £1,000 find and your insurance could become invalid? Don’t risk driving around in a car that doesn’t hold a valid MOT certificate.
